  • Bernadette Berroya or Benneth for short is my castmate from #LuckyStiffMNL. She played one of the lead roles, Annabelle: a woman very passionate about dogs that she had two songs dedicated for them.

The very first time I heard Benneth sang was from a video of her singing For the First Time in Forever from Frozen in our theater workshop. In that moment, I was blown away. I was an instant fan. Her voice sounded like how I imagine angels sing to the departed when they enter heaven. She is unbelievably talented and all this talent is packaged in her cute and small stature. What made me like her even more is her genuine personality. She is naturally humble and kind that no one (I think) expects her to do anything close to an ounce of evilness.

I believe in this girl and her talent. I believe that Ellen reads this post and she would fly Benneth to her show. Someday, she will make it big.

  • Here are my top ten picks for this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. Fingers crossed that all of them score high on the finals scoreboard. (Read my previous Eurovision post for my picks 20-11.)

    10. Austria
    The Makemakes — I’m Yours

This sounds like a classic rock ballad from yesteryear. That’s a good thing considering this sound is sort of making a comeback on the airwaves, with the popularity of Sam Smith and Hozier among many. Will this song win? Probably not. But I’m expecting this to at least be on the left side of the scoreboard come finals.

  • Here is the third part of four of my countdown, i.e. from my least favorite to most favorite to win, for my Eurovision picks this year. (Read my previous Eurovision post for my picks 30-21.)

    20. Israel
    Nadav Guedj — Golden Boy

Sounds like three different songs mashed together, one of which is an Ed Sheeran sound-alike. And nobody believes Nadav is a teenager. But to hell with all of that, this is the funnest song this year. You know, the kind you sing along to at the club in your drunken state. I’m a golden booo-ooo-oy.
