Nicole’s photo was strong and was definitely a big improvement from her first photo shoot. She learned to work with her squinty (for a lack of a better word) eyes to her advantage.

The girls generally did just an okay performance in Episode 2. Most of the girls did not make use of the set and just posed in a “high fashion” manner. Maybe it was the limitations of the set? Maybe because they weren’t educated of what the statues signify in Malaysian culture?

Or maybe it was just because of the monkeys?

What can you say about last week’s best photo? Do you agree with the judges? If not, whose photo should have been called first?

Watch tonight’s episode of Asia’s Next Top Model S2 9:40/8:40 p.m. JKT/BKK on Star World and Star World HD.

  • I guess the goal of this episode is to teach the girls how to be relevant in the world wide web. In the age of social media represented by Tumblr, Twitter, Facebook and Instagram, this may be a “skill” that a modern model must have in her pocket. After all, social media are means to promote oneself and showcase one’s personality to the public.

Here are some of the highlights of episode 2.

  • Personally, I think the set of contestants for the second cycle of Asia’s Next Top Model displays a more diverse representation of asian beauty. AsNTM should be a venue to showcase that beauty as well as our identity as one asian nation to the world.

Cycle 2 also decided to have 16 contestants instead of 12. I’m just sad that Nepal does not have a representative. We love Aastha.

Though it may be too early to judge based only on these photos but my current favorites are: Marie, Jodilly, Pooja, Sheena and Thao.

I got the photos from the show’s official website.

Get to know the girls after the jump.
