    SelfPortrait

How I wished I lived the 20 something years of my life the way I lived the recent months. I used to dwell too much on the details, let the little things ruin my mood, my day and judgment. I cared too much on pleasing people who treated me differently. Tried hard to the extent that I compromised my own well-being. Well, I learned that there’s a bigger picture to be appreciated. And that the world is big and small at the same time. I learned to let go. Of people, expectations, memories and could-be’s. To live and keep on moving. #26th

  • Cinemalaya 2015 Schedule
From Indie Fans of Manila (facebook.com/IndieFansMNL)

For indie film enthusiasts, I just found out from Indie Fans of Manila that Cinemalaya 2015 Broadening Horizons is opening tomorrow, August 7 until 15. Last year, I was only able to watch The Janitor so this time around, I want to catch all if not most of the short films in the competition. Oh yes, all entries are short films. The full length category is not included this year.

  • Since it’s my birthday tomorrow, I have a surprise to all Amiciness and theatre followers! I’m putting my Ricky Lo/Boy Abunda/Jessica Soho hats on as I’ve set an email interview with Steven Silva of 9 Works Theatrical’s  La Cage Aux Folles. Yes, La Cage is back on August 15 to September 6 at the Carlos P. Romula Auditorium (RCBC Plaza).

I’m really excited about the interview! I hope he has fun answering all my questions as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them down. Watch out for the post!

Below is a very short behind-the-scene footage of #LaCageManila with a personal greeting from Steven himself.

  • It’s only been three cycles of Asia’s Next Top Model. But what would an all-star cycle look like? Here is my dream AsNTM All-Star cast from the girls in the cycles so far:

    The Runners-up

    The Runners-up: Stephanie, Jodilly, Aimee
    Stephanie, Jodilly, Aimee
    • Stephanie (Philippines/Cycle 1) 1
    • Jodilly (Philippines/2) 2
    • Aimee (Singapore/3) 3

These girls are out for vengeance. They almost clinched the title… but not quite. Will they do enough to get the crown the second time around?

    The Early Exits

The Early Exits: Rachel, Trang, Marie, Celine
    Rachel, Trang, Marie, Celine
    • Rachel (India/Cycle 1)
    • Trang (Vietnam/1)
    • Marie (Japan/2) 4
    • Celine (Vietnam/3) 5

Fan favorites gone too early. Will they climb up the ranks to the top, or stay stuck at the bottom?

    The Dark Horses

The Dark Horses: Aastha, Josephine, Melissa (S3)
    Aastha, Josephine, Melissa (S3)
    • Aastha (Nepal/Cycle 1)
    • Josephine (Malaysia/2) 6
    • Melissa (Malaysia/3) 7

We see the potential in these girls, but they might not have shown their full capacity in their respective cycles. Will these girls break through the all stars and shine in their own right?

    The “Mean Girls”

The Villains: Helena, Janice, Tia, Tahlia
    Helena, Janice, Tia, Tahlia
    • Helena (Hong Kong/Cycle 1) 8
    • Janice (Indonesia/2)
    • Tia (Thailand/2) 9
    • Tahlia (Indonesia/3)

No cycle is complete without the “villains.” They bring the drama, but will they bring their game face in the all-star battlefield?

What do you think of my all-star cast? Who do you think I missed? What would your dream AsNTM All Star cycle cast look like? Sound off in the COMMENTS below.

  • Poop (Toilet Café) #Korea

In Korea, you can expect the unexpected (and in the cutest and most delightful form nonetheless). If you happen to be in Seoul, don’t you dare miss passing by Insa-dong (인사동). Insa-dong gave me this artsy-fartsy (no pun intended) hipster feel. Every bit of it is celebrating the colors of Korean culture, beautifully weaving together old and new traditions. I bought a bunch of one-of-a-kind items there. One of it is a pocket mirror shaped like a teardrop; a very unique idea for pasalubong. I will definitely be back!

If Myeong-Dong has a dog café, a cat café and a Hello Kitty Café, go to the top floor of Insa-dong and you’ll find Poop (not literally poop, but a small cute toilet-themed coffee shop).
