  • Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 Episode 2 Review + Amiciness Picks

Asia’s premiere modelling competition is back for Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 Episode 2. Lots of drama happened this episode. But before we get to the Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 Episode 2 review, let’s first take a look at how the girls fared in their photo shoot this week.

This week’s shoot is sponsored by Colgate Optic White. Inside a studio, with just a white backdrop and minimal make-up, the girls flashed their signature smiles. Each girl got to present four frames at panel, so variety is key. The week’s best performer gets the chance to appear in a campaign for the brand. Joel Lim is again the photographer for this shoot, his second this cycle.

These are my TOP 3 favorites and BOTTOM 3 for the week: (Check out the video at the bottom for the photos.) (more…)

  • Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 Episode 1 Review + Amiciness Picks

I can’t be more excited that Asia’s Next Top Model is finally back for Cycle 5. Asia’s Next Top Model Cycle 5 finally premiered last Wednesday. But with all that excitement of seeing our beloved model competition back on air, we get the disappointment of another *yawn* photo shoot with the Singapore harbor as its backdrop…

I mean, these were all just from Cycle 4. This gallery would probably span a whole page if I included everything way back Cycle 1.

Joel Lim was the photographer for the shoot.

  • My Greatest Achievement

I remember when I told my mom that I was accelerated from grade 6 to first year high school. I whispered the news as we are about to shut our garage gates. I saw her face and how it lit up. I knew she was proud and happy. Everybody was. And I also was. Genuinely happy. Secretly, of course. We didn’t have Facebook then.

I miss feeling proud of what my hard work can actually achieve. I miss the feeling of making people proud without the need to try too hard.  When I didn’t need to calculate and validate my every move. I miss crying tears of joy, being overwhelmed by happiness that you need to express it in the most ironic way possible.

My greatest achievement was when I was accelerated from grade 6 to first year high school, and it all went downhill from there. After that, everything became a competition.

My greatest achievement happened in grade 6 and it’s okay. It’s okay to hold on to that. That place in my heart and memories where I was proud and genuinely happy.
